El concepte post-veritat comença a fer estralls en el nostre dia a dia. En l’àmbit de la política és prou evident. En el de la sociologia, intentant discernir l’impacte de les emocions en la conformació de veritats absolutes i de comportaments electorals, sense èxit si ens fixem en les enquestes i els posteriors resultats electorals. I en el d’una determinada literatura, que s’expandeix principalment a través dels mitjans de comunicació i que deixa les preguntes i els dubtes a banda per a consagrar escenaris bidireccionals que es mouen entre l’eufòria i les consideracions més catastrofistes.
La post-veritat, paraula de l’any, que el diccionari Oxford defineix com el substantiu que descriu un procés en el qual a l’hora de conformar l’opinió pública les emocions i les creences personals passen per davant dels fets objectius, s’ha convertit en la clau per explicar les situacions més inversemblants o aquelles que necessitarien d’una anàlisi més profunda que la immediatesa per ser el primer desestima.
Estic convençut que d’aquí un temps el concepte perdrà l’aura màgica i es transformarà en una pura i simple referència del diccionari. No sé si succeirà el mateix en la vida quotidiana de seguir com ara.
A ningú no se li escapa que les noves tecnologies i plataformes digitals com facebook, twitter o similars, que permeten globalitzar missatges sense dedicar temps a certificar la veracitat, són un vehicle perfecte en la difusió de continguts de l’anomenada post-veritat. I, també, la connivència, penso que en la majoria de casos involuntària, d’una part rellevant del món de la comunicació, que en la expansió de la realitat emocional ha trobat un filó en forma d’audiències a través de profetes i tertulians disposats a convertir-se en hooligans de causes inversemblants però molt lucratives.
El periodisme i els periodistes observen amb perplexitat aquest fenomen, de moment amb poca autocrítica, això sí, i amb els nivells de credibilitat sota mínims. A ulls del ciutadà han deixat de ser la peça indispensable que garanteix la bona informació i, en conseqüència, enforteix la democràcia, exercint de mur de contenció a tan bocamoll escampat pel món.
Els especialistes i grans factòtums del món de la comunicació diuen que cal tornar a les essències del bon periodisme i recuperar l’esperit fundacional que dóna sentit a aquest ofici. Contrastar els fets, tractar-los amb rigor i honestedat, cuinar la informació a foc lent sense presses i no oferir-la fins que no estigui al punt. Però de què serveixen les essències si cada vegada costa més sortir al carrer i descriure la pura i simple realitat. En les històries que s’hi trobarien segur que hi ha el veritable contrapès a tanta mentida que es presenta com a post-veritat.
